Reopening/COVID-19 Update Page

This is the page where we will keep you posted as to our current policies regarding COVID-19 concerns.

IN BRIEF: HAC was closed from mid-March through early August, 2020. Since then, more practitioners have returned to seeing clients, and we have added one new massage practitioner and another who returned after years away from Orcas Island.  Appropriate masking and other safety protocols are in effect.

Dear Healing Arts Center clients and supporters:

After being closed from mid-March 2020, we have, as promised,  continued to take our cues from our licensing agencies and practitioner organizations as to how we should proceed. After reconfiguring our office and treatment rooms for maximum safety, we are now open again, on only a slightly more limited basis than previously. Some of our formerly active practitioners are no longer seeing clients, but others are taking new as well as former clients, and as mentioned, we have two new massage practitioners available.  Please feel free to call the Healing Arts Center (360-376-4002) for up-to-date information about whether a specific practitioner is making appointments, and leave a message if you are seeking an appointment, preferably indicating your own time frame of availability. We do not have receptionists staffing our phone at this time, but we will  reply to all messages as soon as possible. Although we have a Facebook page, neither Messenger nor email are good ways to reach us about appointments; a phone message will be seen and answered the most quickly. The following is our policy with respect to safety that applies to all patients/clients.

Healing Arts Center COVID-19 Client Policy

Practitioners reserve the right to refuse service and appointments based on their clinical judgement and/or if the client has symptoms of infectious disease, symptoms of a cold/flu OR had an exposure to a person known to be positive for COVID-19. Symptoms include:

  • Fever >100 degrees F
  • Sore throat
  • Shortness of breath
  • Chills
  • Muscle aches
  • New loss of taste or smell

  • Clients must wash hands upon entering the HAC.
  • Clients will be required to check their temperature and answer a screening questionnaire EACH day that they come to the HAC.
  • Masks are required while in the HAC and treatment room per state requirements. Clients will be asked to bring their own mask.
  • Client masks may be removed while face down on the treatment table if alternative protection is provided by practitioner (e.g., a drape or pillowcase under face cradle).
  • Treatment rooms are to be cleaned by practitioners between each client appointment, and common areas by reception staff between appointments. Appointments will be staggered so as to limit time spent in waiting room in proximity to other clients.
  • If a client tests positive for COVID–19 following an appointment, they must notify the Healing Arts Center or their individual practitioner.
  • Fees for cancellation, even including on same day of appointment, will be waived if the client is experiencing any of the above symptoms, suspects they have been in contact with anyone with infectious disease, or if information gathered in screening contraindicates treatment.

As we still may not be able to accommodate all requests for treatments, we would remind you to continue attend to all the messages about such things as exercise, good nutrition and sleep, and natural stress relievers .  We realize that the pandemic is far from over, and we are truly all in this together.

Please note that Gift Certificates are, as always, available online; if it is important that the recipient be able to use one promptly, please check about appointment availability before purchase.
