Foundation Project/Heat Pump Fundraising

A huge thank you for all who helped us successfully meet our goal of raising $24,200 from May 2–16 for our important Foundation Project, sponsored by, a fundraising effort by the Orcas Island Community Foundation.  We were the tied winners of their Ben Franklin Day contest so they contributed a $1000 bonus to help our efforts. Now we’re so much closer to literally putting a firm foundation beneath our historic building!

In March and April many of you donated towards our Heat Pump Project, a necessary ask of $25,000 to complete our new energy-efficient heating/cooling/ventilation system. For that project we didn’t quite meet our goal — our generous contributors donated $20,000 of our $25,000 goal, so we’re continuing to try to raise $5000 for the completed price tag of the Heat Pump Project.

In addition, and linked with the Foundation Project efforts, with our community’s help we’ll be raising another $5000 in the coming months to help us finish off our building project with needed doors, siding, and additional energy-efficient windows.

In the OICF catalog for our most recent fund drive, we were designated as one of seven island nonprofits (out of a total of 27) with a critical need for funding. Please check out our Building Project page for our project history and details of our plans. Any donations you make on our website will be directed to these two simultaneous upgrades to our building. Thanks for your past and future help to keep us thriving into the next decades.
